We will do our best to ensure that your goods arrive at your new home safe and sound. After your goods are packed, they will pass into the hands of other organisations including shipping companies, airlines and handling agents. Most shipments reach their final destination in good condition, but from time to time accidents do happen for a variety of reasons. It is for those reasons that because personal insurance policies (homeowners, renters, or automobile policies) likely provide very limited, if any coverage for goods in transit, we strongly advise that you take out insurance.
We offer an excellent policy to our customers.
You will need to complete an insurance proposal form and estimate the replacement values for the items in the country you are moving to. You do not need to declare each item in the home. You can group certain kinds of items which individually which are not especially valuable. For example, children's toys, "kitchenware", etc.
We offer a comprehensive insurance policy which is designed to cover a wide range of risks from the moment the packers arrive through to the delivery at destination, including cover for short term "storage in transit". The policy offers reimbursement for loss or damage to all or part of the consignment up to a nominated value.
As well as our standard policy, you can extend your insurance cover, including:
In the event of a claim and the insurance was purchased from our office, follow the claims procedures on the policy. We recommend you read and review the policies terms and conditions before the move. Generally speaking, claims should be lodged with a few weeks of delivery. Though not necessarily required, photos can help support a claim and eliminate some of the questions which the adjusters may ask as the claim is processed. Our office will assist you or the insurer as appropriate.
Insurance is important and we recommend you speak to our Move Consultant and read our detailed material.
